Buying Bridesmaid Shoes
Should you consider whether or not they look good with the bride’s? How are you ever going to decide? If you are lost on the subject then don’t concern yourself too much, here’s an idea: let the gown theme be your inspiration. Bridal shoes are very important and shouldn’t be overlooked.
Your bridal dress is unique. They are designed to be different from the bridesmaid’s dresses. You are the center of attention on that special day and your gown reflects that. But bridesmaids dresses need not exactly match one another these days, either.
Your overall ‘look’ should be consistent. A good idea is to have the designs pretty much the same but with a few details here and there different. When it comes to these individual touches it could simply that different colored ribbons are used for each dress.
Why all the concentration on the dresses when we’re trying to select shoes? Here’s the key.
Fabrics for shoes, for example, no longer need to match the bridal or bridesmaids dresses exactly. But they should not stick out either. Subtle contrast is good.
Satin shoes may be a good match with your dress. Many bridal shoe designs are available only in satin, anyway. But if you select satin for the bridal shoes, go crepe for the bridesmaids’ to keep the focus where it should be.
What color of shoes to choose?.
Bear in mind that there are shoes that can be dyed to whatever colour you wish. The reason they are so popular is that you might have found a style you particularly like but find that they don’t match the color of your dresses.
You might want, say, a bold burgundy for the bridal shoes. That can look great under a cream wedding dress. Now use the same color, but go a shade or two lighter for the bridesmaids’ shoes. The same, but different. The focus remains on you, but the bridesmaids are coordinated.
